Tips for Patients Anxious About Surgery

Plastic surgery can be a great option for many men and women, but anxiety about the surgery may set in causing patients not to go through with the procedure.  There are many things you can do to set your mind at ease.  Meditation and breathing techniques have been proven to lower stress and anxiety in individuals.  Exercise is another great option to alleviate anxiety.  Make sure you avoid sugary, caffeinated beverages which can cause jitters and anxiety.  Getting plenty of rest is another healthy way to subdue anxiety.

Depending upon the severity of the anxiety, you may want to set up a consultation with your plastic surgeon in Utah to help answer some of the questions that may be contributing to your anxiety.  You can also seek the advice of a therapist on techniques that may help you relax before your procedure.  Remember, it is very normal to have some degree of anxiety before any medical procedure.  Talking to friends or family can also be helpful, especially if they have undergone a procedure in the past.  Keep in mind, most anxiety will subside after the surgery, but there are some cases that linger for a few weeks.  If your anxiety lingers, you need to talk to your plastic surgeon in Utah and discuss options for treatment.
